The Ghana Armed Forces has once again assured Ghanaians of their unwavering commitment at securing the country from any threat or attack. Western Naval Command, Commodore Isaac Osei Kuffour, at the 2019 Open Day of the Ghana Armed Forces, held at the Sekondi Naval Base yesterday, re-emphasised that the service is positioned to deliver on its mandate at all times.
The Ghana Armed Forces’ Open Day is a yearly event organized to promote learning for the citizenry on the operations of the various security agencies within the service. On this background, Commodore Osei-Kuffour explained that such engagements are helpful as it deepens understanding of the operations and demands by the service, in so far as they are being sponsored with the tax payers’ money.
“It is also important for the Ghanaian citizen tax payer whose funds are being used for our operations and administration, as well as logistics, to see how we are using these platforms ,equipment… how we are using them and the challenges we have in doing so. When we go back to them to ask for more funding, they will understand the funds are not wasted” he clarified.
Commodore Osei Kuffour urged the public to de-condition themselves of myths and speculations that suggest ill of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“The Armed forces is not some mystical organization separate from them but it is an organization that is working day and night to provide them with the security they deserve and we are brothers and sisters as well” Commodore Osei Kuffour stressed.
Thousands of civilians yesterday throng the military and naval base command here in Sekondi Takoradi to interact with the officials of the Ghana Armed forces.
There was an exhibition of weapons at 2 BN, a sea trip at the naval base and an air trip at the air force base for participants. Participants mainly students were also briefed on the various ranks in the military and how prepared they are to defend the country from any external forces.
