Acting Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party Francis Ndede Siaw has observed that any decision President Akuffo Addo takes concerning the party is done in the supreme interest of the party.
He insisted there is no way the President will take an action with the intention of causing disaffection within the rank and file of the party.
Mr. Ndede Siaw was speaking to Skyy news after the President mentioned the names of the two remaining District Chief Executives in the region.
The two District Chief Executive nominees for Ellembelle and Jomoro were rejected outright.
The President in announcing new nominees maintained that of Jomoro Eric Muah but changed that of Ellembelle Steve Donkor to Kwasi Bonzo the 2016 Parliamentary Candidate.
Jomoro is relatively calm but that of Ellembelle has been met with mixed reaction.
A failed delegate conference of the NPP party in Ellembelle over the weekend is said to be a sign of protest.
However Mr. Ndede Siaw is urging for calm as all conflicting interests will be satisfied.
“There are a lot of opportunities. It is not being DCE alone that makes you a part of the party. If he (Steve Donkor) cannot become the DCE, he can be posted to Ghana Gas. I know they have made consultations. Already, Bonzo was being posted to Ghana Gas but he said he wanted to be DCE. So they must give it to him. At the end of the day, it is the good of the constituency’s good we are all looking for”.
He encouraged the members to consider the interest of the part first.
Mr. Ndede Siaw said: The positions for party members are a lot. It is not only the DCE position. Let us keep our fingers crossed and keep praying for a new DCE so that NPP will be able to roll out its plans to benefit the people of Ellembelle.
The acting Chairman encouraged the feuding members to remain calm and pray that Bonzo K, the new DCE nominee is confirmed as DCE “and we will all give him our support to do a good work in Ellembelle”.
“It is a matter within the party and we agree to disagree. It is part of politics. We must all unite and support him [Bonzo K] and wait for his confirmation as DCE. By all means it won’t be easy. There will be disagreements which we will iron out”.
Earlier Skyy news was reliably informed that the confirmation exercise for Ellembelle will be on Friday June, 30 2017.
However the acting Chairman described the information as false. According to him certain discussions will have to take place before a date is finally fixed. This he said is to ensure that all nagging issues are resolved.
“So far as I, the acting Chairman, am concerned I have not heard anything. But we plead that by tomorrow Tuesday June 27, 2017 or Wednesday June 28, 2017 the date will be out.
We will also let you know the work we did as well. We need to do a lot of things before the date is set for the voting. No date has come from the regional and constituency level. Our coordinators have also not informed us of any date”.
