The coach of Sekondi Hasaacas football club, Joe Agyemang Jnr has dispelled rumours that he facilitated the fixing of their game against Samartex FC by starting his fringe players so as to give strength advantage to his opponents. In an exclusive interview with Skyy FM 93.5mtz in Takoradi, the soft spoken coach said his players are evaluated in an open selection trials process which is determined by their attitude, fitness, tactics and the strength of the opponent.

I have never allowed external forces to determine my selection; I supervise their training and I monitor their progress and response. I select those who I think can deliver the results for me, and I can tell you that I have performed that responsibility with all the integrity and honesty required of a professional coach”, he told host of Skyy Sports Show, Oti-Asirifi.

The GFA/CAF License ‘B’ certificate holder was reacting to allegations of altering his regular set of players in their mid-week division one league match against Samartex FC at the Sekondi Stadium in Essipong. “ I couldn’t have changed my team for bribery reasons, never; but I can confirm to you that in our match against Samartex, I did only one change in the starting line-up that played a draw game against Nzema Kotoko at Anyinase, and that was Emmanuel Ebahoa whom I replaced George Ekow Annan, that’s all”, he blew up.

Sekondi Hasaacas is accusing Samartex 1996 FC for allegedly attempting to influence the outcome of their match day six fixture in which Samartex FC emerged as 2-1 winners. Sekondi Hasaacas claim that Samartex FC attempted bribing their captain, Thomas Aboagye with GH₵4,000 before the game. Hasaacas FC has consequently, protested to the Ghana Football Association, seeking the football regulating body to sanction Samartex football Club, pursuant to Article 34 of the GFA Regulations. Attached to their protest are series of audio conversations suspected to be the voices of the CEO of Samartex FC, the coach of Samartex FC, one Lincoln suspected to be the deal broker and Thomas Aboagye who is the captain for Hasaacas FC.
