Member of Parliament for Takoradi Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah is entreating traders to exercise patience as the Nana Addo led government works to get the country’s economy on a sound footing.
He stated the government incurred huge debts from the previous NDC government but is working at paying off all such financial commitments.
Addressing thousands of traders at the Takoradi Market Circle as President Nana Addo climaxed his three day tour of the Western Region on Wednesday August 9, 2017 the MP who doubles as the deputy Minister for Aviation explained that the MASLOC initiative that was introduced to help traders with soft loans for their activities was on its knees when the NPP took over from the NDC.
He bemoaned the difficulties with which traders go through in securing loans from financial institutions coupled with often intimidating interest rates.
But he assured the traders that steps are being taken to repackage MASLOC and that very soon it will be rolled out.
According to him, the NPP government will ensure market women in particular become the major beneficiaries of the MASLOC initiative.
He is optimistic all promises made by the President during his campaign will be fulfilled.
