Ghana Tourism Authority shuts down Ridge Way Hotel following murder of Nigerian Prostitute

The Ridge Way Hotel has been shut down following the murder of the “28 year old Nigerian Prostitute” last Friday, 2 November 2018.

The closure was sanctioned by the Ghana Tourism Authority, over a gross misinformation and breach of regulations by management of the hotel.

Western Region Director for the Ghana Tourism Authority, George Nkrumah Ansere told Skyy News’ Abraham Mensah, the authority took the action on the grounds that management of the hotel secretly had been operating without the necessary permits after a renovation notice given them some time ago.

He explained that the hotel had earlier informed the authority of their discontinued operation due to the exercise but failed to notify them for the necessary assessment and clearance before resuming work.

“We have a problem with them because the said hotel according to our records informed us that they have closed down for renovation. Not knowing they were operating behind us. So we moved in and closed it down because they done have valid operating license for the year 2018. And we have lodged all the keys that we seized from them with the Police”, he narrated.

Commenting on the crime committed at the facility, Mr Nkrumah-Ansere stressed that the failure of hoteliers to adequately ensure security for clients is unpardonable. He emphasized that the authority has for years been advising hoteliers to provide security installations and lodgers’ book to aid investigations particularly in such circumstances.

“It is in their own interest that to keep that lodgers’ book because that is the source of information that you can give to the police, the security in case of any emergency. But if you don’t keep it you put yourself in a very difficult position, very bad situation…because hotels are open to the public. People come in and go out, so anything at all can happen over there”, Mr Nkrumah Ansere reiterated.
