Government through the World Bank has been able to secure a 150 million euro facility for the construction of a dry-dock at the Takoradi port. According to the Minister for Transport, Kwame Ofori Asiamah, the project is in line with government’s port expansion project at the Takoradi Port.
He disclosed that an operator; Sea Invest, through the World Bank has been identified for the project. Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony for the construction of an on-dock container and multipurpose terminal by IbisTek Limited, Hon Asiamah hinted that construction works would start by August this year.
“Mr. President another project which will soon come on as part of the Takoradi Port expansion project is a dry dock project which true the World Bank facility we have been able to secure an operator, the negotiation is almost at the tail end and I can assure you that from August, Sea Invest is going to invest about 150 million euro as part of the development project at Takoradi Port” he said.
