A Ghanaian maverick striker, Hans Kwofie has rubbished speculations in the media that he has been kidnapped in Tanzania
The footballer, who joined the Tanzanian side, Singida United, last month after terminating his contract with the Egyptian Smouha SC, has described as a total misinterpretation, the rumours on various news portals claiming that the football star has been kidnapped by unknown thugs in Tanzania.
According to him, his new team tweeted about his arrival in Swahili language; ” Mchezaji wetu Hans Kwofie Kutoka Ghana ametua mazoezini”, which meant ” Hans Kwofie has finally joined the team”. He said the blogger who picked up the story failed to properly translate the Swahili language into English language, and created a wrong impression out there.
Hans Kwofie explained that he started receiving calls from family and friends about the kidnapping, after his first training, adding that it left him quite confused.
“People started calling from Ghana to verify whether I am safe or not, because they had seen stories online that I have been kidnapped”, he explained.
Hans Kwofie told the Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Skyy Power FM and Star TV,that he is safe and has had his first goal for the team through a friendly match and is looking forward to making his team proud as well as projecting the image of Ghana.

Commenting on the current happenings in Ghana football, the maverick striker appealed to the government to take a critical look at things “because some footballers have no occupation aside football, and that when things go on like it is currently, Ghanaian local players will suffer.”
