Chief Executive Officer for MEMPHIS Metropolitan Limited, Patrick Kwame Danso says the company is determined to complete construction of the Asankrangwa – Fordjourkrom road within schedule. The twenty five kilometers (25km) Government of Ghana (GoG) funded road project is expected to be completed within 24 calendar months from July, 2018.
Mr Danso is convinced his team has what it takes to honour terms of the project.
“Mostly it’s an issue with financing but at the end of the day we have to make sure we put the agenda of the nation forward. We are ever ready to make sure we finish the project in time. Unless maybe there are some challenges that might arise in the course of the project. The duration of the project is perfect for this type of work”, he emphasised.
He however added that construction firms would have no excuse to stall road infrastructure projects given the urgency and funding constraints they experience in their operations.
“We chose to be contractors. Government of Ghana does not have the financial muscle to sponsor such projects. You would have to strategize to address these challenges”, Mr Danso urged.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will today cut sod for the construction of the road. Per the contract the 25km road will be surfaced with bitumen, and a few culvets and drains constructed alongside. An estimated contract sum of Forty-six million Ghana Cedis (GH¢46m) has been allocated for the project.
Reassuring residents of some job opportunities within the project, Mr Kwame Danso stated “we have a lot of opportunities being offered to them. We are currently working with the local people at one of our project sites..from Asankrangwa to Bekwai. So it’s in our interest to get the local people recruited to work on this project. We are looking at employing about sixty to a hundred of them onto this project”
