After four attempts Jomoro now has a District Chief Executive. President Akuffo Addo’s second DCE nominee Ernest Kwofie was on Wednesday November 1, 2017 overwhelmingly endorsed by the general assembly.
He had 47 yes and 2 no after the ballots were counted. His win appears to have been predictably clear.
Immediately, his name was mentioned the vociferous Nzema Youth Association released a statement congratulating him.
After there was no other statement either contesting the president’s decision or supporting it.
The loud assembly members were dead silent. These events are in sharp contrast to the cacophony of noise that greeted the first nominee Eric Muah.
Various interviews conducted by the regional executives of the ruling NPP suggested the “deal is in the bag” for Ernest Kwoffie.
One critical strength he had going into the election was the fact he served with most of the assembly members, who voted, during his time as an assembly member.
Ernest Kwoffie after the victory charged assembly members to put all other considerations aside and focus on the development of the district.
He says Jomoro has not been able to benefit from the numerous policies of the NPP government because there was no DCE.
Speaking to a charged house he explained that he is not the only intelligent person in Jomoro but believes the work must certainly be done and there is only one person who can lead the pack.
He pleaded for the support of all and sundry to enable him put Jomoro on a good development path.
