An international secular, non-political service organization, Lions Club International is set to establish an ultramodern eye center at Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi, Western Region. The intervention, according to the President for the Takoradi Chapter, Lion Samuel Aggrey is to provide affordable and possibly free medical care for the needy, aged and children with eye diseases. Lion Aggrey observes residents in the regional capital and several other communities often stress to seek eye treatment in other parts of the country, adding the absence of surgeons and other specialist in optometry is a major concern the club will address.
He emphasis a total amount of GH400,000 would be dedicated to the establishment of the center.
Asked if some commitments have been made in advance to secure land for the project, Lion Aggrey noted the traditional authorities in Anaji have already released a parcel of land to support the initiative.
He assures the project will hit ground as soon as the necessary documentations and titles are completed.
