Residents of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, the Oil City have been assured of witnessing some massive road infrastructure in the coming year. It is anticipated that most of the deplorable link roads and highly congested roads will be worked on.
In an exclusive interview with Skyy News, Mayor of the Metropolis Anthony Kobina Korantsir Sam disclosed that, the Ministry of Roads and Highways have given an assurance of capturing a number of these road projects in the 2019 budget.
“Fortunately, the minister was here…the MPs took him round to see things for himself. And we hope this year some of our roads will be captured. The President in hi recent visit to the region assured us that our roads will be taken care of. So probably our roads will be captured in next year’s budget. Next year you will see major works on our roads” he confidently elaborated.
Additionally, the PTC Interchange project as promised by government is at advanced stages, and construction will soon begin.
“The engineers have been to the site, they have taken measurements. Those that would be affected by the project have been asked to bring their documents so that it would guide government to take care of compensations and other matters. So if we are going to have an interchange over there… that would mean a big plus for the metropolis” he gladly explained.
Mr. K.K Sam also commented on sanitation and waste management situation in the metro. He lamented the assembly’s “One waste bin- One household project” has been poorly patronized. He said the indiscriminate disposal of waste remains a major problem confronting the metropolis. He warned that stringent and punitive measures will be taken henceforth to deal with situation.
