Western Region Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Joseph Nelson has opined that the 95.6 percentage votes cast in the Western Region for John Dramani Mahama at the Presidential Primaries, together with results from other parts of the country is indicative of a potential of the former president to win election 2020.
Mr Nelson stressed that the party executives consider the outcome of the polls, as extraordinary and an opportunity to amass votes from the grassroots to guarantee John Mahama’s and the NDC victory come 2020.
“Of course we cannot use the internal endorsement as we had it couples of weeks back to indicate that the whole of western region is going to fall for the NDC but there is a certain measure because for us what it means is that this number of people would be ready to work for the victory of his excellency of John Dramani Mahama because… of course you do not vote for somebody if you do not have confidence in the person to lead. And you know as a political party our ultimate goal is to be in power to prosecute the developmental agenda that we have to elevate the suffering of Ghanaians” he argued.
Mr Nelson stressed that “the huge endorsement by the party in the western region is an indication that our foot soldiers are really up to the game, they are really poised to provide all the sacfrices that we need to be able to overcome the NPP in the western region and for me as the regional secretary together with my colleagues what we need to do is to harness that energy, that zeal to want to work for the party”
Albeit, Mr Nelson said, such aspirations must be complimented with hard work and dedication for the party.
“…it doesn’t end there some hard work, some strategies and some resources…everything that you want to add to this enthusiasm, this zeal, this sacrifice that the branch executives, the foot soldiers want to make will do so that all things put together we should be able to come out victorious” he maintained
