New Sekondi – Takoradi Mayor pledges to change the face of metropolis

Newly confirmed Mayor for Sekondi – Takoradi Anthony KK Sam says he is aware of the challenges that confront and stifle efforts at turning the metropolis into a world class city. He listed waste management and sanitation, congestion at the various markets, poor road network, poor drainage system which causes flooding and inadequate street lights which affects security stressing he intends to tackle them without fear or favor. Mr. KK Sam a former regional secretary for the governing New Patriotic Party last Friday received an overwhelming endorsement from assembly members and government appointees of the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly. He secured 70 out of a total of 71 votes casted. The remaining one vote was spoilt. Western Region Chairman of the Electoral Commission Steve Opoku Mensah announcing the results said technically no one voted against Mr. KK Sam. The new mayor said he is conversant with the opportunities for the growth and transformation of Sekondi – Takoradi. He is also aware of the promises the Akuffo Addo government has made to Ghanaians including the one district one factory and one constituency one million dollars. Mr. KK Sam noted he will work to ensure that Sekondi – Takoradi plays it part in ensuring that these promises are fulfilled.
