No scientific evidence to back claims on Oil Rigs, Drill ships’ operations causing dwindling fish stock- Petroleum Commission

Amidst several claims that exploration and extraction of oil at Ghana’s Cape Three Points accounting for the dwindling fish stock, Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Petroleum Commission, Egbert Faibille has posited that there exist no scientific evidence to back them.

Responding to a question posed him by our reporter Eric Yaw Gyetuah at a Petroleum Commission’s Annual Community Relations Workshop held at Nkroful in the Western Region, for justifications on such claims, Mr Egbert Faibille argued, such allegations are unfounded.

“Ghana’s coast line very is wide. Ghana’s coast line is very big and expansive such that just a little part, a fraction of it that is being used for drilling, operations and exploration and FPSOs operation cannot and will not affect the situation with regards to the fishstock that we have in this country,” he argued.
