NPP 1st Vice Chairman Aspirant for Sefwi Wiawso Steps down from Primaries

An aspirant, Matthew Benyin for the 1st Vice Chairman position in the New Patriotic Party for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, has tendered in his withdrawal letter to contest in the coming Constituency Executive Election.

The letter dated February 21, 2018 and signed by Mr Benyin, was addressed to the Chairman for the Constituency Election Committee.

Mr Benyin who sounded apologetic, explained his withdrawal from the contest, is influenced by circumstances beyond his control. He assures aspirants and party sympathisers of his continued support to the party.

Matthew Benyin, was among four others who were to contest the candidature of the incumbent 1st Vice Chair, William Asamoah in this year’s polls. This means that the 1st Vice Chairmanship position for NPP Sefwi Wiawso Consituency will be highly competed for by 5 aspirants.

Meanwhile, Communications Director for New Patriotic Party  in the Western region Okatakyie Amankwa Afrifa has indicated that all is set for the constituency elections in the region. The Constituency executive elections popularly known as “Primaries” is slated for Saturday, February 24 to Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

According to him, the processes of vetting candidates for the various offices have been done with, and the constituency election committee are meeting with the electoral commission to print the ballot paper. Thought it is reported that some constituencies will start their election on Sunday, February 25, Mr Afrifa explains the only reason for not commencing the election in these areas according to the statutory time table could be attributed to the constituency not completing their vetting early. He adds that, he is resolute most constituencies in the region will start the election on Saturday, February 24.

Mr. Afrifa who spoke to Skyy News  Thursday, indicted that the party has provide the need logistics at the various constituencies in the country to facilitate the running of the elections. He notes the whole directive for the formation of the constituency election came with its own formula so we have already made provision for the logistics and transportation to make the election come off as planned.
