Operation vanguard sets ‘dormant’ mining equipment ablaze

The operation vanguard team have destroyed mining equipment worth $135,000 at a storage facility belonging a licensed mining company, Takoradi Gold LTD.

This was disclosed to Skyy News by the CEO of the company Mr. Anthony Nicol-Sey.

The incident is a said to have happened last Saturday 10 March, 2018 at the Tintina block of the company. The concession lies south of Prestea Gambia near Bondai in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.

Mr. Sey tells Skyy News items destroyed include a RP4; a reverse polarity equipment that allows the extraction of about 95% gold without any chemical, some Sharkey tables, conveyor belts, and electric motors.

He explains the security man at post was frightened and bolted upon seeing the armed personnel rush into the premises.

Takoradi Gold Limited recently won a court case against the state for wrongful termination of its mining lease, and is thus preparing to start work on its concessions soon. In the period of the court case that lasted well over three (3) years, illegal miners mined the company’s concessions uncontrollably. The burnt equipment were part of equipment that the company intended to start work with it.

The CEO of Takoradi Gold Ltd, David Anthony Nicol-Sey who doubles as there Managing Director for the company says the company is contemplating legal actions against parties that sanctioned the operation.
