The Railway Workers Union of Ghana has expressed its displeasure on the current industrial agitations involving workers of Goldfields Ghana Ltd, Tarkwa Mines.

According to the release, such agitations have very serious repercussions on the operations of the Ghana Railway Company Limited. The Ghana Mine Workers Union is threatening to withdraw all its services in all mining companies in the country, in protest against the laying off of some workers of Goldfields Ghana Limited.

In the press release signed by its general secretary, Godwill Ntarmah, the railway workers believe that if the GMWU proceeds with its intended plans, Ghana Manganese Company cannot haul manganese, and operations of the company will come to a halt.

In view of this, the union is calling on government to step into the matter and ensure sanity in the mining sector.
