In a bid to improve businesses within the fisheries sector, the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has dedicated a portion of its 2013 District Development Fund allocation to construct a fish smoking facility in Sekondi, and satellite markets in Mpintsin, Diabenekrom and Kojokrom.
Speaking at a recent townhall meeting in Sekondi, Mayor for the Metropolis, Anthony. K.K Sam disclosed that works on these projects are at advanced stages of completion.
He clarified that “the contract has been awarded and the construction of a 32 bay partitioned market sheds external works at Mpintsin and Diabenekrom are on-going. Similarly, a 40 bay partitioned market shed with external works at Kojokrom is ongoing”
“The construction of a fish smoking facility at Sekondi has also been awarded and it’s about 35 percent complete”, he added.
