The New Sofokrom Bulk Haulage Transport Terminal is completed and some truck operators have begun parking their vehicles there, Public Relations officer for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropoliitan Assembly John Laste has said. Mr Laste responding to concerns raised on the Jolly Breakfast Show this morning, about the unusual delay in continuing works on the Fijai –Effia Nkwanta bypass, said all structural and related physical works are completed at the terminal to allow Asabea Construction works to commerce work on the road.
He however noted the various transport operators are yet to be fully notified of the availability of the terminal, so they could discontinue parking along that route and other roads in the metro.
Mr Laste admitted some ultimatum would have to be effected to get these truck operators off the road as soon as possible.
The Mayor for the STMA, Anthony K.K. Sam in April 26, 2018, at a Town Hall meeting in Sekondi, noted “haulage truck operators at Fijai and other unauthorised locations within the Metropolis will be moved to the new Sofokrom Terminal by end of April, 2018 to further decongest the beautiful Twin City”.
This is however yet to be realised.
