Takoradi Kidnap: Chieftaincy disputes constraining police visibility in other parts of the region

The Western Region Police Command has disclosed that Police visibility in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis is being constrained by the deployment of personnel to other parts of the Western Region, due to chieftaincy disputes.

Public Relations Officer of the Western Region Police Command, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, in an exclusive interview with Host of the Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Skyy Power FM, Samuel Kojo Brace, said; “the Police in Western Region are not responsible to the Metropolis alone. As I speak we’ve deployed some personnel to Sefwi Wiawso, there is a chieftaincy issue going on there…Enchi too”

DSP Olivia Adiku added that the Police had to strategise to manage the constraints in order to satisfy other needs in the region. She debunked claims that the police has abandoned their duty to patrol flash spots in the Metropolis where crime cases have been rampant.

Her comments comes on the back of claims by residents that lapses in the security setup of the Region is a cause to the rising kidnap cases in the metropolis.
