A 21 year old student of the University of Mines and Technology – Tarkwa was on Tuesday February 6, 2018 remanded by a circuit court for allegedly defiling a 7 year old girl at New Takoradi a suburb of Tarkwa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal.

The Tarkwa circuit court presided over by His Honor Emmanuel Bart Plange remanded the suspect Yaw Obreng Gorman after he pleaded not guilty to his charge of defilement of a child.

Counsel for the accused person Lawyer Bright Benstin pleaded with the court to grant his client bail but his pleas were not taken.

He had argued vehemently the innocence of his client and promised to produce an alibi to exonerate Yaw Obreng Gorman on the next adjourned date.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Hanaman, told the court that on Friday February 2, 2018 about 3: 00pm the victim’s mother decided to bath her after she returned from school with feces on her.

But the victim expressed discomfort whenever the mother tried to wash her private parts.

Chief Inspector Hanaman continued that upon series of questions from the mother the victim confessed that a certain man (Yaw Obreng Gorman) enticed her with GHC2, took her to his room and sexually assaulted her.

The mother then asked the victim to lead her to the accused person’s house which she did.

After, the mother lodged a complaint at the Tarkwa police station and a police medical report was issued to her for medical examination.

Prosecution added the report from the hospital concluded the normal female genitalia hymen of the victim is conspicuously missing.

Police then proceeded to the house of the accused and arrested him.

The trail Judge has since adjourned the case to February 6, 2018 for the counsel of the accused to produce his said alibi.
