Tension is mounting in Half Assini over alleged death of resident in police custody

Skyy news has gathered that tension is mounting in Half Assini following the reported death of a 45 year old coconut seller while in police custody. According to our source the alleged deceased was arrested last Sunday at 5am by the Half Assini Police in his household at Ekpu for allegedly selling a stolen attire.

Assembly Member for the community Peter Miezeh, says the police refused to grant the deceased bail last Monday when he and some family members made a request. He mentioned they were later informed by some inmates that the suspect Yaw Asuaba is dead. Mr. Miezah suspects it is due to the alleged death that the police refused to grant the bail request.

He mentions the police have however failed to provide convincing information about the situation. The assembly member adds that some friends of the deceased who got wind of the information have gone on rampage.

The Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwesi Duku and some officers have since visited the station.
