President of the Western Region House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has disclosed that the Amenfi State in the Western Region showed little interest in participating in consultative meetings organized by the Justice Brobbey led Commission of Enquiry for the creation of new regions.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II recounted that the said traditional areas though were signatories to the petition for the splitting of the Western Region failed to avail themselves in deliberations held in their respective constituencies over the subject.
Responding to a recent demonstration by a youth group and some chiefs in the Amenfi West Municipality, who claim the Amenfi State comprising the Amenfi West, Central and East Constituencies, wish to be part of the Western North Region, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II noted their actions are rather unfortunate. He stressed that no single objection was raised to their inclusion in the proposed Western South region even at the very final call at the Presidency.
