TUTAG suspends nationwide strike

Leadership of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) have put on hold a strike action which the association begun last week.

The association stayed out of lecture halls for four days last week in protest the amendment of certain sections of the 2016 act that establishes technical universities.

The amendment bill which is currently before parliament seeks to grant powers to the NCTE to perform functions which TUTAG argues falls within the purview of the governing councils, academic boards and principal officers of the technical universities in Ghana.

Our checks from the Takoradi Technical University indicate lecturers are truly back in the classrooms.
