The Western Region Office of the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO has presented relief items to the over 500 people whose properties were damaged when the Pra River overflowed its banks.
The items included mosquito nets, drinking cups, mattresses, mosquito coils among others.
Assembly member for the Prato electoral area in the Wassa East District Daniel Kevor reveals the affected are currently seeking refuge at the D/A School in the area as a good number of houses have been destroyed.
Over 500 people in the Prato Electoral Area in the Wassa East District have been displaced by flood waters.
Worse, most of the school children from Kwekukyi, Ababiokope and adjourning communities have since the incident not been able to go to school.
Presenting the items regional Director of NADMO Abdul Ganiyu sympathized with the affected stressing government will continue to offer the needed support.
The DCE of Wassa East, Wilson Arthur said the assembly will work assiduously to find a lasting solution to the incidence of flooding in the district. He indicated the affected will be hooked on to the Planting for Food and Jobs to enhance their current financial standing.
The relief items were received on behalf of the community by the assembly member for the area, Daniel Kevor, who expressed appreciation for the rapid response.
