Water levels falling steadily, affecting GWCL’s rationing programme- Communications Manager

Complaints have been rife of some communities in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis of severe water shortage. This incident which is no different from any other year during the harmattan causes the Ghana Water Company Limited to roll out a water rationing programme to balance off the effect across the city.

But this year’s rationing programme has been hit with some challenges, one that has further compounded the problem. Areas affect most include, Effiakuma, Anaji, Apowa, Bankyease, Lagos Town among others.

Communications Manager for the Ghana Water Company Limited, Nana Yaw Barnie tells Skyy News that their pump station at Effia is unable to receive adequate levels of water from their treatments site, to be distributed to homes.

“That is true we are unable to receive adequate levels at our reservoir at Effia. I just spoke to the operations officer and it tells me their unable to build the levels to the point where there will be enough pressures to push the water to places like Funko, Bankyease, I-Adu those areas.
