Chiefs in the newly created Western North Region have sworn to dedicate substantial resources to promote the development of the region. The President of the Western Region House of Chiefs, who is also the paramount chief for Sefwi-Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has disclosed that a strategic approach is being taken to exploit natural resources and other reserves within the region to finance their development.
The Western North Region can boost of cocoa, timber, bauxite, gold, bamboo and many others.
Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show this morning , Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II remarked that the traditional authorities are vigorously pursuing investors to transform these for wealth.
“You know that we have the resources, all that is left is to have the investors both local and foreign to take it up. The timbers, the waste from the bauxite mines since 1940, can’t we transform them into something useful…the cocoa husks, our waters…can’t we make a difference with it”, he questioned.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II admitted that their aspirations will meet some challenges, he believes they would surmount them with time.
“…the most important thing is that we unit and then identify opportunities for the establishment of industries to support our development”, he clarified.
