Items worth twelve thousand Ghana Cedi have been donated to nursing and pregnant mothers at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital by the Western Region Chapter of the New Patriotic Party.
The items including pieces of cloth, napkins, towels, diapers, cosmetics and other kiddies ware were given freely to new born babies on Monday January 7, 2019, and other nursing and pregnant mothers at the hospital. A cash amount of a thousand Ghana cedi was also dashed to management of the hospital to support other cost borne by the facility.
Regional Organiser for the party, Abdul Ganiyu Mohammed explained that the gesture is in fulfillment of a promise made by the party during the 2016 electioneering period, to provide women and pregnant women with the quality auxiliary healthcare support.
“We did this because we believe that in 2016 throughout our campaign and at the end of the day, Ghanaians gave us the opportunity to govern this country. Its a exactly two years and today is one of the happiest day for every NPP member in the country”, he said.
Abdul Ganiyu added that “the party shall engage in strategic lobbying at the regional and national level to get the other needs particularly in the health sector addressed”
Medical Director for the hospital, Dr Richard Anthony who receive the items of behalf of the beneficiaries expressed his gratitude to the party and executives. He however called on benevolent organisations and persons to respond to critical needs and development of the hospital, so as to improve service delivery.
“I will also use the opportunity to appeal to those who can support in terms of equipment for the neonatal and intensive care unit, and other parts of the hospital. I pray that people come and adapt wards and units which we can even name after them, so that we can maintain and renovate these places for us”, Dr Anthony pleaded.
