Western Region set to take off for “Primaries” Saturday- Communications Director

The New Patriotic Party Communication Director for the Western region Okatakyie Amankwa Afrifa has indicated that all is set for the constituency elections in the region. The Constituency executive elections popularly known as “Primaries” is slated for Saturday, February 24 to Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

According to him, the processes of vetting candidates for the various offices have been done with, and the constituency election committee are meeting with the electoral commission to print the ballot paper.

“So fare the processes had been smooth, we have not come up with any major challenges. Yesterday was the last day for the vetting and currently the constituency election committee are meeting with the electoral commission to see to the printing of the ballot papers. So Saturday the election will kick start”.

Though it is reported that some constituencies will start their election on Sunday, February 25, Mr Afrifa explains “the only reason for not commencing the election in these areas according to the statutory time table could be attributed to the constituency not completing their vetting early”

He adds that, he is resolute most constituencies in the region will start the election on Saturday, February 24.

Mr. Afrifa in an interview with Skyy news indicted that the party has provide the need logistics at the various constituencies in the country to facilitate the running of the elections.

He notes: the whole directive for the formation of the constituency election came with its own formula so we have already made provision for the logistics and transportation to make the election come off as planned.
